90th Birthday Celebration of Chaplain's Mother
Cassie Mae (Roland) Udell McCain, celebrated her 90th Birthday October 12, 2013; she went to glory on November 8, 2015.
From an agriculture family, Cassie was born in Tulsa, Okla; moved to Calispatra, CA in 1929; then moved to Wasco, Rosedale, Pumpking Center, and then Bakersfield where she went to Bakersfield High School. Her father, the late Elder L.W. Roland, pioneer church planter for the Church of the Living God (PG&T), built one of the finest homes at the time at 601 S. Brown in Bakersfield. Cassie Mae met the founder of Christ Holy Sanctified Church, Bishop Judge King and Minister U.S. King in 1939, and later became a key missionary with that organization.
She married Kenneth George Udell who she met in Bakersfield, and married in Las Vegas and had child, Edward George Udell, in 1942. She lived in Oakland, and Richmond, California during WWII, then moved to Tipton, California; later to Tulare, California. Her and Kenneth then moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Idaho Falls in 1945 where Kenneth worked with his father as a "Cat-skinner (Caterpillar driver and more!) after the war and back and forth to Tulare,Los Banos, Dos Palos, then Fresno, Califonria, and back to Oakland in 1948 after the couple finally separated after several short separations beginning in 1946..
After her divorce from Kenneth Udell, she married Dowell McCain and moved from Oakland to Las Vegas in 1955, to Bakersfield, then to Spokane, then to Eugene, Oregon for 3 years, then to Ft. Worth, Texas for 1 year, then to Oakland, then to San Leandro until 2006, and then settled in Stockton, her last domicile before her transition to Heaven.
Mrs. McCain, known as "Momma 'Cain" by close family members and friends, is the last living sibling of the five children born to L.W. and Cornelia (Gupton-Mays) Roland.
